50X microscope lens with coaxial light input

We have a series of microscope lenses, including the 50X lens with coaxial light input. With this microscope lens, you have 50X magnification. It is composed of a 1X magnification lens tube and the actual 50X magnification lens, which are meant to be used in tandem. You can easily turn an industrial USB3 or GigE camera into a digital microscope because it works with our C-mount industrial imaging cameras. For your application, using this 50X microscope lens yields high-resolution images.
There are several uses for these 50X microscope lenses where a short working distance of only 15mm and high magnification are necessary. Applications include waver inspection and sample analysis in laboratories.

Industrial camera for the microscope lens

The 50X microscope lens has a C-mount lens tube with 1X magnification which is mounted to the machine vision camera. This lens tube is then used to mount the 50X magnification lens component. This results in a 50X magnification microscope lens that can be used with industrial C-mount cameras that have sensors up to 1.1" in size. We also have this 10X magnification microscope lens available in addition to the 50X magnification lens.

Coaxial microscope lenses

A coaxial light input is an option on some microscope lenses. A coaxial light input is present in the lens if the part number ends in -CO. There is no coaxial light input in the lens if the part number ends in -NI. This specific 50X microscope lens does have coaxial light input. Selecting a microscope lens with coaxial light input gives you the freedom to select the technical light configuration that best meets your requirements. Metal and printed circuit boards are two examples of flat, shiny surfaces that are best illuminated by coaxial light input. For the coaxial light input, we suggest using our LED2-SPOT-12V-3W-White led spot as the light source.
If this 50X microscope lens didn't have a coaxial light input, would you still like it? This is another option that we offer; it is listed on the product page for the 50X magnification lens that does not require coaxial light input.

Lighting for the microscope lens application

Selecting the appropriate light source is crucial when taking pictures of objects through a high magnification microscope lens and camera. It is advised to use a light source with a wavelength of between 420 and 680 nm, such as white or blue light. Cameras that are monochrome or color can both benefit from white light. It is only advised to use blue light with monochrome cameras. This is due to the fact that blue light has the lowest wavelength within the specified wavelength range and monochrome cameras are more sensitive to light. Red or green light is recommended for applications that need greater contrast in the images. Kindly get in contact with us if we can help you select the appropriate lighting. See our Knowledge Center article on C-mount lens filters for more details on contrast with different colors and lighting.

Resolving power and optical resolution of the microscope lens

Microscopic lenses are not classified in megapixel resolution, instead they are classified by the smallest detail of an object that they can resolve. This parameter is called the optical resolution. The optical resolution of this lens is 0,41um. This means the smallest detail of the object that you can see is 0,41um. The reason you can’t see smaller is because the wavelength of light is 410 nanometers. It is not possible resolve details that are smaller than the wavelength of the light that you are using. Therefore, when using a 1.1” 12-megapixel camera, you do not use the full 12MP resolution of the camera. In this case, it would be beneficial to put the camera in binning mode to reduce the amount of data and improve the light sensitivity.

Software for microscope cameras and lenses

The free open-source software program Micromanager, which is made specifically for microscopy, is compatible with our industrial cameras. Our cameras and microscope lenses, along with the Micromanager image processing software, provide all the tools required for microscopy applications. For accurate control of the microscope and the acquisition of high-resolution images, the entire setup of the microscope is a great solution.

Our knowledgeable staff is available to always help you with the 50X microscope lens. Please get in touch if you need individualized assistance.
